Thought I had posted this ... maybe not. This was one of the more humorous songs of protest that my generation sang and celebrated. Yes, when we marched on Washignton against the VietNam war in November 1969, this was definitely a song we sang. I had boyfrieds, schoolmates, and one brother go over there, and it SUCKED! lol. Iff'n it had been me, I would have been in Canada in a heart beat.

And, by the way, our boys weren't serving to protect our soil - it was a contrived war that they were tricked into. They all have told me that. So, let's assess Iraq, shall we? There's no such thing as fighting for "our freedom" on foreign soil. The only fight for our freedom was on our own soil, and it was called the Revoluntionary War.

I agree with jdc1234, WW2 was the closest that I can see to a justified war. There was a very clear enemy. And that enemy was trying to control Europe and I have no doubts he would of moved over to North America at some point.

Voted for Bush but ironically about the only policy I've agreed with him is his war against terror. TAKE THE FIGHT TO THEM!! This war is all about national security.
However I agree there was something very screwy with Vietnam. I have nothing in comman with dorks like Abbie Hoffman and their ilk, but they probably had a point concerning this war. I've always liked this song and there's some justification in its lyrics, and that's coming from a extreme righ

But Jimi Hendrix wasn't at the new one. And the new one sucked! There were riots, rapes, and Limp Bizkit. I was at Woodstock '94 when I was 14, and saw the Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. THAT was a show!
